Season 3 of the highly anticipated Jujutsu Kaisen has been unleashed onto our world; I mean the first 2 episodes at least. And I cannot wait to discuss it. Let’s get the obvious stuff out of the way first…
Animation & Action
Mappa is the animation studio behind Jujutsu Kaisen, and as always they have done a fabulous job. If you have seen Attack on Titan or Chainsaw Man, Mappa is the same studio that works on them as well. Action is as good as you remember in the previous two seasons.
Story

The story is having a natural progression, after the Shibuya Incident, things have calmed down a little (relatively calm*) & we are being introduced to a few new characters along with our regulars. Yuta is finally in the show after his appearance in the movie Jujutsu Kaisen: Zero. Character motivations are developing very well, pretty similar to the manga itself. Although I will compare the show to the manga in a later article. There is a nice touch of politics in Sorcerer Clan/Zenin Clan which I really appreciated. Faking the death of Yuji Itadori yet again is a thing, handled in different context so it isn’t repetitive. There is a hint of Itadori’s origins as well, can’t wait to see that unfold.
Minor Negatives
Jujutsu Kaisen is pretty straight forward show, there are a few cursed techniques here and there that could be a little confusing at first to understand but that about it. Here in season 3 they have to introduce “The Culling Games” which is a major upcoming arc. I feel that they needed to spend a little more time in explaining the concept to the viewers. Whether they do it in the next episode or not remains to be seen. The rules flash by pretty fast which can be rectified by pausing and reading but why the games were started and who are the administrators of the games, what are colonies, etc; these things need a little breathing time. Hoping that the upcoming episodes addresses it adequately. (these are negatives right now but some things are kept vague for a reason.)
Verdict
It is obvious, Jujutsu Kaisen is a show worth watching and if you have seen first two seasons, then yes it continues with same intensity and quality. This is still Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 first impressions review, there will be a comparison article between the show and manga posted later.
